When the Cannes Film Festival took place in May, the annual event gathered some of the world's top film industry insiders, rendering the French coastal city full of glamour and glory.今年五月，法国海滨小城戛纳喧嚣而星光闪烁。

After a five-year hiatus from Berlin's Golden and Silver Bears-winning Black Coal, Thin Ice, Diao — the former literature major who graduated from The Central Academy of Drama — is returning to the spotlight with The Wild Goose Lake. Unfolding in a poetic narrative, Diao again turns the lens to people who are struggling at the fringes of our society but still striving for dignity and self-esteem.暌违大银幕五年之久，这位曾以《白日焰火》一举擒获柏林金熊和银熊的前中戏文学系毕业生，再次用富有诗意的镜头，勾勒出一群在社会边缘挣扎的人：虽身处绝望之境，却仍希冀生命底色里最后的尊严。

Somewhat a coincidence to match the film's fatalism theme, the procedure that Diao used to find his ideal actor was like an arrangement by destiny. He stumbled upon a magazine photo of actor Hu Ge, who has the temperament of a rebellious role with a complex past. Besides, Hu was then at a crossroads about his future career and was eagerly waiting for an excellent script and a good character.与故事本身浓郁的宿命感意外相契的，是刁亦男在寻找男主角时，仿佛冥冥中自有天意一般，他看到了一本杂志上的胡歌照片，从那脸庞里读出叛逆与复杂，而彼时正处于迷茫期的胡歌也正期待着一个好剧本、一个好角色。

As a diligent actor, Hu has shown the public his determination to seek a breakthrough after he stars the influential role of Mei Changsu in the TV series Nirvana in Fire. The Wild Goose Lake marks the first cinematic lead role for Hu and also his first time to play a wanted man. 《南方车站的聚会》之于胡歌，是他首部大银幕男主作品，大概也是他第一次出演一个落魄的通缉犯。

Director Diao also is seeking a breakthrough in cinematography. All the scenes were shot in the same order as the narrative sequence of the film, making it easier for the performers to immerse themselves in their roles and develop their characters more fully — but at the cost of forcing up the budget.刁导也在摄影上尝试了全新的突破，他用了很“烧钱”的方式来进行顺拍，也就是故事进展到哪里，场景就拍到哪个，这有助于演员更好地进入角色， 并随着情节的发展，而感受角色心境的起伏和变化。

The other major struggling soul in the movie is the "swimming escort" — a euphemism for a sex worker who plies the trade on the shores of a local lake or in the waters — played by actress Kwai Lun-mei. As a gifted actress, Kwai convincingly translates a woman who has to get her hands dirty but still feels her conscience.而影片中另一个充满挣扎的灵魂是桂纶镁饰演的“陪泳女”，也就是在当地湖畔接客的一个特殊女性群体。

桂纶镁的天赋，让她令人信服地诠释了一个身陷风尘但良知未泯的女性形象。

Approaching the end of the film, Zhou Zenong, the gangster played by Hu, and Liu Ai'ai, the "swimming escort" portrayed by Kwai, get their own redemptions in the humid city of Wuhan in Central China.在影片结尾，胡歌饰演的匪徒周泽农和桂纶镁扮演的“陪泳女”刘爱爱在武汉这个湿漉漉的城市里，成就了彼此的“人性江湖”。

临近年底，好片汹涌而来，已获戛纳“检阅”的《南方车站的聚会》是一部值得回味的好片。
